D614 G, The Latest Covid-19 Strain Found In Malaysia That Is 10 More Infectious – Insiderfolks, Malaysia has identified a new coronavirus strain that has been shown to be 10 times more contagious than the previous Wuhan strain.
As if the lethal coronavirus was not enough, Malaysia has discovered a new coronavirus type that has been shown to be 10 times more contagious than the initial Wuhan type. Alerting people, Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director-General of the Ministry of Health of the world, said the society needed to be more vigilant when detecting a D614 G mutation in the novel coronavirus.
The D614 G mutation is the Sars-Cov-2 mutation. D614 G allows a minor yet successful improvement in the ‘Spike’ protein sequence that the sequence uses to penetrate human cells.
Detection of D614G
According to the Bloomberg study, the mutation was seen in three cases from a cluster that obviously began when the restaurant owner and permanent resident returned from India.
The man reportedly violated the mandatory 14-day home quarantine and has since been sentenced to five months in prison and fined. The strain has also been found in another cluster involving people returning from the Philippines.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, Dr. Noor Hisham said, “It’s found to be 10 times easier to infect other individuals and easier to spread if spread by ‘super spreaders’ individuals.”
“People need to be careful and take more care as this strain has now been detected in Malaysia. People ‘s collaboration is really important so that we can split the chain of contamination from some mutation together, “he said.
He noted that the D614 G mutation was found by scientists in July and is likely to trigger the existing vaccine work to be inadequate or unsuccessful.
Nevertheless, he stated that the studies carried out by the Institute of Medical Research, which revealed the existence of a mutant form, were retrospective and that follow-up tests were carried out in many situations.
Is there need to worry?
This mutation has since been the prevalent form in Europe and the USA. Nevertheless, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that there is no proof that the pressure contributes to more serious diseases.
Experts also agree that there is no justification yet to sound the warning.
According to the paper in Cell, the mutation does not have a significant effect on the effectiveness of vaccines currently being produced.
