Air India Express passenger flight from Dubai to Kerala crashed at Kozhikode Airport. At least 14 passengers were killed – Insiderfolks, A flight from Dubai by air India Express departed on Friday from its destination at Kozhikod Karipur Airport and broke into two. The flight, IX1344, was part of the repatriation mission at Vande Bharat.
“14 killed, 123 wounded and 15 seriously injured in a Kozhikode plane crash at Karipur Airport,” said Malappuram SP.
The pilot, Captain Deepak Vasant, was killed, Air India said. Captain Deepak Vasant Sathe was a veteran of the Indian Air Force who retired as a Wing Commander in June 2003 before joining Air India and His co-pilot also passed away.
In Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode, 16 people were admitted.
Passengers who crashed at the International Airport in Karipur may contact the next Helpline No. 0495 – 2376901, said Kozhikode Collector for an inquiry, for the purpose of the IX 1344 flight.
Malayalam Channel Janam TV told a survivor of the crash that the front portion of the aircraft crashed a few minutes after the flight landed and skidded the runway. Puri confirmed that all the consulate’s four helplines will be 24 hours a day available to answer all questions, and provide the passengers’ family with details.

The spokesperson of the Condotty Police quoted ANI as “Dubai-Cozhikode Air India flight (IX-1344) squaded today about 7.45 p.m. during the landing of Karipur Airport.”
“Six crew members were on board, two pilots included,” Air India Express said.
“After landing in Karipur Airport’s Runway 10, the Dubai-Kozhikode Air India Express aircraft fell into the valley and was cut into two parts, with 191 on board,” Civil Aviation Directorate General said.
“At the time of arrival there was visibility of 2000 metres.”
A detailed inquiry to learn what went wrong was ordered by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Alphons KJ, Former Minister of State for Tourism, Govt. of India, tweeted: “Second tragedy of the day in Kerala : Air India Express skids off the run way at Kozhikode, front portion splits , pilot dies and lots of passengers injured . All passengers evacuated. Very lucky the aircraft didn’t catch fire.”
Airport Calicut is one of the country’s only three top three table runways and has the shortest of all four airports.
“There seems to be injuries among all passengers and certain passengers are unconscious.
A NDRF crew has been rushed to the scene to join the search and rescue operation at any point, NDRF DG SN Pradhan said.” There is a tabletop runway on Kozhikode.
