In Historic Move, Brazil Declares Fair Wages For Female Soccer Teams For Men And Women – Insiderfolks, Brazil’s women’s soccer team will earn the same salary as their male counterparts announced by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) on Wednesday.
The policy ensures that any player representing Brazil will earn equivalent regular rates and prize money on international duty.
CBF Leader Rogério Caboclo declared that gender parity had begun in March.
“Since March of this year, the CBF has been balancing the bonus money and the regular average for men’s and women’s football.
That’s to say, the players are receiving the same as those who are selected [to the national team],” Caboclo said at a press conference while naming two women’s football coordinators, Duda Luizelli and Aline Pellegrino.
“Women will earn the same regular premium as those that now earn it. The women’s team that wins or passes through the stages of next year’s Olympic Games will receive the same premiums as the men.
“What the men will get at the next World Cup (2022) will be proportionately equal to what FIFA suggests. There is no more gender difference; the CBF considers men and women similarly.
Fight for equality
Brazil’s women’s team reached the final of the World Cup in 2007, but was knocked out of the 2019 edition in the 16th round.
The loss sparked the emotional speech of iconic player Marta, who called on her country to unite around the women’s game.
