Five more TMNT films would follow, including a pair of direct sequels in 1991 and 1993, as well as a Michael Bay-produced remake in 2014, which led to the 2016 sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Seth Rogen will produce a computer animated TMNT picture planned for release in 2023, while a separate live-action feature is also in production, with SNL regular Colin Jost and his brother Casey as writers.
It turns out that those two film projects aren’t the only things TMNT fans have to look forward to in the coming years. Plans for a series of TMNT spinoffs focusing on the franchise’s villains have recently been unveiled at Paramount’s Investor Event (via Culture Crave). Instead of being released in theaters, the spinoffs will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service.

Of course, it’s always been the practice for owners of valuable intellectual property to create as much material as they can around their trademarks until the money well runs dry. However, with streaming now in the picture, studios are increasing their attempts to broaden their diverse content universes as much as feasible. It’s apparent that Paramount is counting on TMNT to be a big role in their efforts to establish a lineup of series for their Paramount+ streaming network.
